Luck Be A Lady I’ll take my time when I’m waking up I’ll let luck be a lady The sweet sunrise off the east coastline Got my heart and soul connected This life aint always easy I know from my experience The days blow by with the breeze We’re all moving on I’ll seek the truth in the darkest hours I’ll recognize the beauty in the breakdown The paradox is the only truth You can only see what’s in front of you This life aint always easy I know from my experience The days blow by with the breeze We’re all moving on ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

The Truth 03:43
The Truth I know you want to tell your story But babe it seems so boring when you don’t believe in you Cause I do And babe I want to hear it From your lips please speak it Darling speak your truth It’s all any of us can do When words clutter up the feeling The framing and ceiling crumble at your feet You try to make sense of the meaning That’s lying there in pieces You lie puzzled too And I know that you’re strong But these walls only keep me from you You gotta speak your truth Speak your truth You’ve got to want it all now ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Counting Sunsets So long sweet darling While we travel round the world Here’s another song to let you know how I feel While we ride telephone lines Counting sunsets as the present rolls along We spent some time apart for a while But our promise lingers on It keeps me hanging on. The words that I write down Make me feel a little shy Cause they can’t even begin to describe what’s going on inside While we ride telephone lines Counting sunsets as the present rolls along We spent some time apart for a while But our promise lingers on It keeps me hanging on. ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

I Roll Up on a hill Life’s so much better here Than down below There’s not much space between the two And my hope Is that we will realize That we are close And that we don’t have too far to go Down at the barn We sing like we’re family The truth is we are When words fill the space they fill our hearts And then we fall In love with the melodies We sing to the stars We sing like the world is listening All I need is something out of nothing It’s how I seem to grow All I need is something out of nothing It’s how I seem to roll I Roll All I need is something out of nothing It’s how I seem to grow All I need is something out of nothing Yeah we all got that something ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

When Loving is Leaving When loving is leaving There’s never enough time for goodbyes If timing’s the issue Then where can I get more time? Here I go again Trying to settle down Surrounded by my friends When all I want is her around Trying to pick it up When I am falling down Missing pieces of myself Like a voice without the sound This day’s like a river Filled up to the brim And all that’s washed away in it Becomes the life blooming in the spring Here I go again Trying to settle down Surrounded by my friends When all I want is her around Trying to pick it up When I am falling down Missing pieces of myself Like a voice without the sound ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Wondering Wondering when I’ll see you again How it’ll feel To hold your hand in my hand I should have known That things would change They always do. I’ve seen life rearrange And you should know that I remain More in love with you everyday Wondering when I’ll be in your bed Wondering when I’ll do good on the words that I’ve said I should have known That things would change They always do. I’ve seen life rearrange And you should know that I remain More in love with you everyday I’ve seen the future and it’s looking bright With you and I side by side You are the plans I want to make We could love all our mistakes I should have known That things would change They always do. I’ve seen life rearrange And you should know that I remain More in love with you everyday ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

In My Sky Sunrise to sunset I’m still doing my best Laying doubts to rest Till the day is done And when I’m feeling blue I sit down next to you And you show me that I am not alone The moon rise in your eyes You know I just can’t hide You are the stars in my sky As summer fades to fall We boarded planes to all ends of the earth We dream our separate dreams When winter comes again We’ll return and then By the fire Share what we’ve seen The moon rise in your eyes You know I just can’t hide You are the stars in my sky ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

When You’re Gone When you’re gone Will I remember The way you smile, or the smell of your coat? And when your boots retire after countless summers Kicking round the ranch When you’re gone When you’re gone When I’m lost and need direction Can I count on you, when you’re gone? I’ll take myself up to that old buckeye tree and I’ll lay me down Cause I know that’s where you are, That’s where you are That’s where you are Even when you’re gone, you know you’re always in my heart Even when you’re gone, you know you’re always in my heart When you’re gone Will I remember The way you smile, or the smell of your coat? And when your boots retire after countless summers Kicking round the ranch ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Keep You Close To Me Songs never die, They live on in this life In a memory, in a melody They live on, they live on And it’s all that I can do And it’s all that I can say To keep you close to me Wrong is never right No matter how long she’s by your side Instantaneously, oh you get that clarity If you can just open you mind And it’s all that I can do And it’s all that I can say To keep you close to me ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Smile Like the Sun She’s got a way about her That makes me want to lose myself She’s got this way to capture My whole heart when hands are held I know I’m crazy, Crazy in love with my baby She’s got this way of looking Deep in my soul with just one glance She’s got this pair of green eyes They always keep me coming back for more I know I’m crazy, Crazy in love with my baby She’s got this way of walking Into a room so nonchalant Then lighting up the darkness, As if her smile was the sun I’m so crazy, she’s my baby, I’m so crazy in love I’m so wasted from all the time spent waiting on this love ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Slow and Steady Slow and Steady Like the phases of the moon Counting days pass till I’m seeing you I catch my breath And then it slips away I watch it stumble into words and sentences I’m wanting something that even time can’t bend Even when I can’t see the light I know you’ll be there I want to be there to watch you growing old Hold you hand next to my heart as I sing to you We write our letters We place our stamps like corner stones We send our words out and they mean more than we could ever know And On that day when Our lips do meet again We’ll hold each other and we will know that this was worth the wait I’m wanting something that even time can’t bend Even when I can’t see the light I know you’ll be there I want to be there to watch you growing old Hold you hand next to my heart as I sing to you ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

People and Place Oh how the mountains hum their sweet melodies As I lie in my bed on the ground fast asleep Oh when I wake all around me I see The stars and the night swirling round through the trees And oh these are the times I give my thanks To the sweetness of life My people and place And recognize those whom come before And the ones who will come forevermore The morning it comes at the end of a dream And the soft kiss of light floods the day orange and pink My body it shakes and it stirs with the breeze As I’m coming awake it’s my own song I sing And oh these are the times I give my thanks To the sweetness of life My people and place And recognize those whom come before And the ones who will come forevermore The afternoon settles, as shadows grow long Stretching as far as they can before dark Beginnings and ending blur one and the same I smile because I am alive one more day And oh these are the times I give my thanks To the sweetness of life My people and place And recognize those whom come before And the ones who will come forevermore ©Doug Streblow/Buckeye Knoll 2010 www.buckeyeknoll.com

Always with You Sweet love of mine. I’m always with you. Sweet darling, I’m always by your side. We’ve got miles, oh the distance put between us by the lives we lead. Oh the choices that we both make, we say it’s for the best and then we leave. And then we leave. Can we love the facts? Is this indeed everything that we’ve dreamed. Then why can this hurt so bad? We’ve got miles, oh the distance put between us by the lives we lead. Oh the choices that we both make, we say it’s for the best and then we leave. And then we leave. Please don’t leave me. We’ve got miles, oh the distance put between us by the lives we lead. Oh the choices that we both make, we say it’s for the best and then we leave. And then we leave. Please don’t leave me. about

People and Place is a collection of songs that tell a particular story of the adventures of one young man, myself, Doug Streblow. These songs were conceived all over the United States while I was traveling for a year and a half in an old school bus, living with 20 other people, sleeping outside every night and backpacking into this country's wild lands. I took with me a guitar and notebook wherever I went. This album represents the people and places along the way.

"People and Place" is the debut full length album from Oakland, CA based Indie/Folk Rock band Buckeye Knoll, released on April 20th, 2010
